The Mad Robin Ball is suspended for 2021 as well as 2020. We hope to return in June of 2022, with exact date, staff, and program to be determined.
The staff and program details listed below were for the 2020 ball that had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope some day to bring this same staff together for a future ball.
Our dancing master for 2020 was to be local favorite Alan Winston, known for his fine calling and choreography. Our musicians for the ball included Eden MacAdam-Somer and Larry Unger of the east coast band Notorious, joined by Mad Robin veteran Charlie Hancock on accordian. It's been way too long since Eden and Larry played for our BACDS English weeks, so we looked forward to introducing them to a new generation of dancers. Larry is responsible for many of our favorite waltz and dance tunes, including some that inspired Alan Winston to compose dances.
Following the Saturday afternoon workshop and evening ball, we had planned to continue Sunday with a potluck brunch and special Sebastopol dance to make it a full weekend of fun.
Mad Robin is an English Country Dance Ball organized by the English dance group in Sebastopol and sponsored by the North Bay Country Dance Society. A chance to dress up, meet new dancers, explore Sonoma County and dance to wonderful live music in a grand old ballroom. We hope to see you at the next Mad Robin Ball!
